Hi Ron,

Sorry, the previous post contains the actual ILM Maturity Model spreadsheet and questions. I'll ask Bob to post the persentation in this forum as well. What was your initial impression of the model and the webcast? I'm curious if this was an effective way to present the maturity model.

The presentation gives me a good background as to where SNIA is heading with the project and good reference material if I see an opportunity coming up to push my organization in the right direction.

The status of the project seems to be more at the Architecture level rather than something an implementor (my current responsibility) can really get his hands around. It would have to be sold in an organization at a very high level to be effective and successful. The only way I can see making much headway in my organization would be for it to come down from our corporate parent or if we got hit with a lawsuit that made it obvious to the executive level that we don't have sufficient control of our information.

I'll look for the presentation to appear.

Hi Ron,

I posted the presentation (in PDF form) in the top level post. I think you're correct on both points. It is at the architecture level and it's often difficult to get executive level support until something (negative) happens. It reminds of the battle for investment in DR solutions that we've stuggled with for years.

I think this is why it's important to identify what needs to be done in a systematic fashion using tools like the ILM Maturity Model.

I suppose that in my role as an architect, I do have a tendancy to focus on assessments/requirements, gap analysis, cost/ROI models, solution designs (business processes, applications, data, and technical infrastructure).

What type of things could the DMF produce that would help with implementation?
